Instructions for PD Option

Applications are encouraged and accepted on a year-round basis for the following summer.

  •  Fill out our secure online application and click the "submit" button at the end of the page.

  • Complete an agreement for participation with Teachers in Industry:

  • Complete a response to this "short answer" prompt as a Word document or PDF, name it "LASTNAME FIRSTNAME Short Answer", and email the attachment to jkolsen@email.arizona.eduTo be considered an adequate response, we would expect this to be approximately 250 - 400 words in length.

Please describe your short and long term goals and how this program can help you meet them. Describe why you are interested in this "real-world" program – what do you hope to gain, what characteristics do you have that will help you succeed in this program. Email this to Dr Olsen. This essay is to help us get to know you better and does not go beyond the Director of Teacher Development's office.

  • Additionally, Identify three references have them prepare letters of recommendation and send to the address below or email directly to  jkolsen@email.arizona.edu

  • Obtain vaccination records -  you will need these for your summer graduate college application - find information at https://www.health.arizona.edu/health_services_immunizations_requirements.htm. Do not send them at this time.

  • Complete online training module  for writing your business resume and use the template provided to create business resume.  Bring a paper copy to the in-person orientation session or have a digital copy to work with if you are in a rural area.

  • Please send as an attachment in either Word or PDF format Obtain and send school calendar along with business resume email both to jkolsen@email.arizona.edu

  • We wil review your application and contact you for your next steps, which barring any disqualifying factors, will be as follows:

    • You will be required to attend an two-hour orientation session TBD.  If you live in a rural area we will provide a link for internet access to the sessions

    • If you are in a rural area and need to access our courses through the computer - here are minimum requirements for success: https://www.coe.arizona.edu/instructional-learning-technology/using-jabber-your-home

    • You will need to begin (but not submit) your application as a "non-degree seeking" student through the graduate college at http://grad.arizona.edu/ - click “Apply Now” to begin the application, then just follow directions. Do not submit your application at this time.

    • After you have completed the interview/orientation and are provisionally accepted into the program, your resume will be sent to 1 or more companies looking for candidate with your particular qualifications

    • Companies will contact you directly for an interview and potentially extend a hiring offer

    • The company will notify you and us of their offer. At this time (don't do this before you have received a summer work  experience offer) we will direct you to complete the grad college application at http://grad.arizona.edu/ and pay the application fee (for a degree program) which is $35  for a non-degree seeking application (subject to change).

    • We will then be in contact with you regarding summer courses and other program policies.
